BBQ in MY garden!!

Today my dad, sister and Jimmy came over to BBQ in my garden. The sun was shining and it was really nice to sit down there. 

Earlier today I went to the grocery store and got myself some food supplies. I have lived in my condo for a little more than a week now without any food. Little by little, I am  creating a little household! :-)

Sister is home

Today my sister came back from London. She has moved home for good. We had dinner at at restaurant, mom, dad, my sister and I. It was nice. I invited them in for a cup of coffee afterwards. It felt very grown up.... We had a good time (except that my dad had to watch some soccer game on TV the entire time)

I am no longer cat sitting as my sister stole her cats from me! :-( They liked hanging out in the bookshelf. So cute!  Can you see them?

As for the bookshelf, it is empty and dark. We're installing lights in it this weekend.

Some of my stuff

I have so much stuff in moving boxes from my time in LA and stuff that I have gathered throughout the years. Little by little, I am unpacking. Today, I will be posting a lot of pictures! I am starting out with illustrations by Sanaz Memarian. She is an LA-based graphic designer who made these illustrations in 2003. I have always loved them , and she gave them to me a couple of years ago. They now hang in my kitchen!

 I found the gumball machine that Nina gave me for my graduation. It is awesome! 

Yesterday, Annette came over with a cute cookie tray! It fits perfectly either in the living room filled with cookies OR in the bedroom with little candles and roses on it. We'll see where it ends up.  

Before going to bed last night, I printed three pics for some of my frames. The goal is to fill the condo with photos of memories! 

I am catsitting for my sister's two cats Johnny and Bullen. They are cute. It's nice to have some company!

I have an old 22" TV in my living room now. It's my sister's old TV. It doesn't have a remote (and Universal remotes do not support it) and the picture quality is not very good, but it serves its purpose and I have watched it a lot already.

I'm now finally connected to the internet as well.  The connection is F*A*S*T and I love that! I will have a home phone connected through the internet. I will get back to you with that number. No prank calling though!

What else.......on Thursday I will have a little Tupperware party here at 6:30pm.  That's gonna be fun mostly because I will use my cookie tray! :-)

Well, these pictures may not be a lot to look at......but they symbolize a very important moment in my life!

Getting connected....

I signed up for an internet connection from work. According to my confirmation email, the internet should be up and running already now. I can't wait to get home and check it! Supposedly, it's really fast!

That means, new pictures tonight!!!!

I have received nasty comments from two nasty rats at work that I am not updating my blog often enough. Therefore, I will try to update more. Maybe every other day!  (It wouldn't hurt for these two rats to become followers of the blog and leave a comment every now and then!!!)

Getting there...

It has been an awfully stressful week, at work, personally and with the condo! 

With the help of my parents, I was able to get the place together for my 17 visitors on monday night. I have been talking so much about the painting and the lamp and everything that it was fun to finally show it all to them.

I have been sleeping in my new bed  for two nights now. It is soooooooo quite there. I still don't have internet connection, a TV or even a radio. On monday, when the may pay check will be in my possession I will get a TV. On monday, I will also try to make all the nessecary calls to be connected to the internet, cable tv and all that.

Here are some pictures. More is to come. As for right now, I like the bedroom. I love the IKEA-lamp "Maskros." 

This is my navy-blue wall with  New England details. This little, teeny, tiny bathroom will be my American get-a-way!!

My bedroom so far. It is still kind of empty but I looove the spaciousness of it!

I have some pictures from my first night in my new home. They will come soon. 

This weekend my plan is to print pictures for the walls, get a showercurtain and pack some suitcases with clothes.

Ohhhhhh, 17 people from work are coming over very soon! I am not even half way done.

Going to IKEA now to buy some stuff. They have a sale today AND it's sunday. It's gonna be CROWDED!

Almost there.....

I am such a bad blogger.  Sorry!

Here is a little update on my condo:

• I don't live there yet!
• The process of turning off the water is long and annoying, therefore the toilet is not yet installed
• My mom finished three pillows for me! :-)
• I have bought towels and towelhangers for the bathroom
• On friday the bathroom and tiny WC will be finished
• I have invited about 15 people from work to come to my condo on Monday. I will never get the place ready on time. I will have to pull all-nighters all weekend!!!!!!
• I bought a teeny tiny dresser in London last week. 
• I love the style Shabby Chic! The dresser above is Shabby Chic (pictures will come)
• I am in the process of printing huge photos for my walls. Again, I hate decisions!

Some new pictures

Little by little I am gathering the pieces that will become my new home. (geee.....sounds like poem....I have to throw up a little bit)

The guys are working on the bathroom and as soon as that is all done, I will be able to live in the condo. 

I wonder if I have any readers left.....if I do, here are some pics!

We went to IKEA the other day! (I love that place) I bought a bed, a dresser and some bookshelves. My dad is helping me build the stuff. I am handing him screws.

Hi,

I just got back from the condo. It is starting to look pretty nice now! Check out the pictures I took today and don't forget to leave comments!

Lots of paint buckets in the kitchen.

I am pretty satisfied with the green paint I picked. The picture doesn't really do it justice.

The complicated wall

Oh Goodness!

The one crazy decision I made about the wall colors has backfired!

I was on a retreat with work, my dad calls me and says "OMG Maria, what have you done? The color is horrible. You mother says it's horrible, the painters say it's horrible. What are you gonna do? We all hate it, but sure....you are the one who will have to deal with it when you live there."

Yesterday I went to the condo and took a look at the wall. It wasn't THAT bad. Sure, it had a little more blue in it than I had wanted. Now, we have changed it to a tone with a touch more yellow in it. We'll see what happens.

I have also finalized the green! Pheeew! I am not gonna use wallpapers in the hallway, I am gonna paint freehand instead! White flowers! I am so excited!

I can't wait to move in!

Plan for the weekend: Book the floor-guys, finalize the bathroom.

Got some stuff!!!

Today I think I have been pretty productive,  I even got some time with my coffee in the sun!

I went to a store called Skåne Plantor. Then I rested a little bit and then I went to IKEA. I was able to gather some stuff for my condo. I AM REALLY excited today and I can't wait to move in!!!! 

 I got some old apple boxes that I will use as side tables. They are really cool and rugged. Morris loved sitting on them. Too bad I am not allowed to bring him to the condo. 

I haven't found my bird cage yet, but I did find this awesome thing today. I will put tiny little pots in it and grow tiny little plants. I think it will look great in my bedroom window!

Here I am sanding one of the "spools" I borrowed from a construction site. I am gonna use them as my coffee table. I love them. Growing up I read books about tiny trolls who stole sewing spools from humans and used them as tables. Now I have my own spool-tables! I love them!

There is this lamp that I saw on a decorating show on TV a couple of months ago. I totally fell in love with it, did some research and found out that it came from IKEA! I went to IKEA and they said that they didn't have it in stock yet. I checked the store a couple of times and they didn't have it. I saw online today that they had 15 in stock, the shipment came in today. (awesome website!!) Today I went there, asked for the lamp. The girl said: "You are really lucky, we got a shipment of 18 lamps today. There is ONE left!!" Can you believe it, they sold all of them in one day. It is from the IKEA PS Collection (meaning they have fewer if it), it is called Maskros (Dandelion.) 

Tomorrow I am gonna go wall paper searching one last time. Then I am going to the woods to take pictures of trees and flowers that I will blow up really large and make art work for the walls. The weather is great! SPRINGTIME in Sweden!

Three-day-weekend

The pressure is on! We have a three-day-weekend which gives me plenty of time to finalize stuff for the condo. I wanna sit in the sun and relax though......

I am off to try to find an antique bird cage for my window.

Lazy Sunday

Yesterday I went to look at tiles for the bathroom. I have no clue about stuff like this. 

I picked a dark grey for the floor and white for the walls. Playing it safe. Since I need color, I will bring in color into the bathroom using towels and stuff like that.

I am now worried that the couch I have ordered and paid for is not gonna be comfortable and nice. I should have picked something else. I am so confused.  

I saw my friend Jenny's apartment yesterday. It was nice!! Very clean, fresh and personal. Lots of pictures everywhere. I am gonna have that too, lots and lots of pictures!

Today I am just exhausted. This kind of project is too big for me to handle. I need help. I need to hire somebody to make all the decisions for me, somebody who knows what I want.  too bad that person doesn't exist.

Yesterday the bathroom guy named Ulf took a look at the bathroom to give me a price estimate. My dad and I played around in the condo. It is weird to be there now, it is very dirty and trashy.
